| Andy Hall founded the Northern Colorado Bird Center to introduce the public to a different type of educational experience. While other organizations use birds to teach about bird biology and natural history, NCBC is one of only a few in Colorado to focus on training free flying birds to showcase their natural behaviors. NCBC also has birds from different families such as parrots, doves, corvids and toucans. The volunteer staff of NCBC is highly trained in animal behavior and care, and our birds are trained using scientifically backed methods. Our birds learn that they can control their environment through training and develop a confident and positive attitude in working with us. Our great trainers and wonderful birds are the "secret" to our fun shows. Volunteer Staff: Andy Hall, MBA - born in Fort Collins, Colorado, Andy enjoys living in the front range region of Colorado more than almost anywhere else. While growing up, he was introduced to birds through bird watching with his mother. The first time he saw a great blue heron, he marveled at how impressive the bird was and became interested. Andy recevied a Bachelors in Biological Science form Colorado State University and had volunteered heavily in raptor rehabilitation and education during that time. At that time he began realizing the power good training can have on the effectiveness in working with animals in education. He pursued behavior and training opportunities with pet parrots, dogs and cats and learned as much as he could. He reached out to highly recognized trainers in the country and landed a job at Natural Encounters, Inc. There he not only learned more detailed techniques in training, but also the mechanics and philosophies of creating a great free flight bird show. In 2003 he returned to Colorado and decided shows like these were imperative for people to develop an interest in birds and wildlife conservation, so he founded the Colorado Center for Avian Rehabilitation & Education. After realizing the higher benefit value of education over rehabilitation, Andy changed the focus of the organization to just education and the name was changed to the Northern Colorado Bird Center.
